Peter's work as a Chartered Secretary, in a legal/financial services environment, in the City of London, during some 30 years, brought him into contact with people from many disparate backgrounds. There were those from privileged beginnings and substantial wealth and those from ordinary upbringing and modest means. However, he found that what they all had in common was to be a part of that charitable ethos for which the City, in its collective state, is renowned. He was fortunate enough to be in a position to organise and participate in many charitable initiatives designed to remind a wealthy sector of society of its obligation to give the vulnerable and disadvantaged a strong helping hand. That experience impressed him greatly and has remained with him always.
Since retiring from the City, Peter has served on the governing bodies of two schools and spent 13 years as a volunteer adviser with the Citizens Advice Bureau.
He is married with three children and four grandchildren and very much cherishes his family gatherings. He also enjoys theatre, opera and travel.
“I believe I have developed some skills and amassed a variety of life experiences which can be utilised effectively in a charitable organisation such as Reedham."
