Increased Independence & Social Skills

Our 6th formers tell us how boarding has increased their independence, confidence, social skills and resilience:

“The main benefit of boarding school was that it gave me independence. I could be my own person and I made great long term friends."

“I gained independence and boarding taught me to get along with people as I had to make an effort being with the same people all day, every day".

“I think the overall benefit of boarding was the life skills and independence I learnt from boarding. Given my home life I would have never learnt them at home. I learnt so much from my house tutors: everything from how to make a bed to how to communicate with people in the right way. I learnt to organise myself and self-discipline. I look at my brother and sister now and think they haven't got a clue how to go about everyday things."
