Mike Nevill, APFS Mike is aged 69 and married with three adult children and two grandchildren and has been living in Chipstead for 15 years. Expand The world is a small place and I still have a lot to see, but also now is the time in my life to give something back to those less fortunate than me. Mike is aged 69 and married with three adult children and two grandchildren and has been living in Chipstead for 15 years. Mike's working life has been in the financial services industry and working with major institutions, including Prudential and Fidelity Investments, where he was one of the UK Directors. In 1991 he set up a financial planning business with a firm of accountants, developing this into a major business turning over £7.5m. In 2012 Mike took a number of his closest clients, and joined a colleague, to set up a new financial planning business. Mike is now working part-time looking after about 50 wealthy clients, assisting them achieving their their financial objectives. A keen runner, cyclist and skier for many years, Mike still competes in running and cycling events. This year Mike supported Reedham by taking part in the Prudential 100 Bike Ride. Another of Mike's interests is a passion for travelling.
Jamie Smith, BSc MCT FCCA (Deputy Chairman) Jamie Smith is currently a senior Treasury Director at Smiths Group, a London based engineering and technology business. Expand I am looking forward to being part of the growth strategy of the Charity over the coming years as it achieves its aims of supporting even more children. Jamie Smith is currently a senior Treasury Director at Smiths Group, a London based engineering and technology business. He joined the Management Board of the Reedham Children's Trust in November 2016. He has extensive experience of financial, banking and treasury management having worked over more than 30 years in a range of successful companies including TNS, United Biscuits and Unilever. Jamie is also a Trustee and Honorary Treasurer of the Sea Watch Foundation, a maritime conservation charity. He is a keen runner and in 2015 completed the Windsor half marathon raising funds on behalf of CLIC Sargent. He lives in Sunninghill, Berkshire with wife Camilla and two grown up daughters, both of whom are now at University.
Sonia Jenkins, MA, BA, Dipsw (Deputy Chairman) Sonia is a registered Social Worker who is currently in private practice. Expand Serving as a Trustee and advisor for child protection for Reedham Children's Trust has enabled me to continue helping others in an area about which I am passionate. She has over 15 years' experience in Child Protection and has held senior posts in both Local Authority social work and health settings. She has strategic experience in child protection including consultation, service review, planning, inspection preparation, policy writing, change management, investigations and training. During her appointment at Great Ormond Street Hospital NHS Foundation Trust she led on service improvement following the Baby Peter, case (2008) in a key London Hospital involved in the case. Her work was commended by CQC/Ofsted joint inspections for significant service improvements based on the service review and implemented procedures and structures . Sonia has authored /quality assured over 15 Internal Management Reviews as part of Serious Case Reviews across England over last 6 years, one of which was the only IMR/SCR to be graded “outstanding “in London. In 2010 Sonia is currently pursuing her PHD in Social work at Tavistock Clinic in London and has been an invited speaker on methodology for the Doctorate in Social Work. She has a special interest in the emotional impact of child protection on practitioners.
Peter Allen FCSI, FCMI Peter's career as a Stockbroker has spanned some 20 years. Expand I am delighted to be able to bring my experience and involvement with other Charity organisations to Reedham Children's Trust who, to my mind, are a proactive and forward thinking Charity doing some very progressive work in a much needed area Having completed his training in a firm of Stockbrokers, he joined Kleinwort Benson as a UK Institutional Fund Manager where he progressed to a Director some 10 years later, and was then subsequently promoted to the Executive Committee. He was further appointed Deputy Managing Director and ended up as Head of Client Relationship Management, before retiring from the City in 2003. Peter is a Fellow of the Chartered Securities and Investment Institute, and a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute. A Surrey man born and bred, Peter also carried out his education in the County. He has many and varied interests including a love of Art and Opera, and is a member of the National Trust, RHS and Goodwood Racing.
Jeremy Groombridge, CB, (Chairman) Revd Jeremy Groombridge is a Church of England minister currently serving in the Sanderstead Team Ministry. Expand Formerly a Senior Civil Servant and adviser to government ministers on welfare reform and employment policy, he retired in 2013 after 38 years of public service including ten years as Executive Director of Jobcentre Plus. He was made Companion of the Order of the Bath in the 2008 Queen's Birthday Honours. Married with three grown-up sons, two West Highland Terriers, one cat and a donkey, He has lived on the site of the old Reedham Orphanage for over 20 years, so has long felt an affinity with Reedhams work and mission. Jeremy sits on both the Children's Committee and the Finance and General Purposes Committee.
Deborah Welham, BA (Hons) Deborah Welham became our first female Chair of Trustees in 2017. Expand Becoming a Trustee at Reedham Children's Trust has enabled me to continue helping children who are struggling in difficult family circumstances. I have been privileged to meet many of our young people, and to watch as a new and brighter future opens up for them Deborah's background is in the commercial world. Her early career was spent creating a leading communications consultancy, specialising in brand reputation management, for national and international organisations. After 15 successful years, the company was bought by a major global communications network, and it continues to thrive under their ownership. After the successful buy out of Deborah's company, she was able to pursue another of her major passions; working to help disadvantaged children fulfil their potential. After serving as a Governor at a local school, she joined an educational charity, leading their commercial arm. She is also a business mentor for several SME's.
Rawle Beckles Rawle is a senior manager at the Field Lane Foundation, where he leads on fundraising and communications work for the charity. Previously, he has held several senior fundraising roles, including at the Royal National Children’s Foundation (RNCF) and for the Treloar Trust, a charity providing education and care for young people with physical disabilities. Rawle has been a trustee for the Reedham Children’s Trust for three years. He was a trustee for NACRO, the social justice charity. Rawle was also a liveryman with the Worshipful Company of Wheelwrights and a school governor at the Bishop Wordsworth’s Church of England School in Salisbury.In his spare time, Rawle sings in a choir and is a founder member of his local walking group.
Lucille Francis-Hume, BA (Hons) MSc This is Lucille’s first appointment as a Trustee and she feels it is important that some of the Trustees are able to bring direct experience of working with the client group that they serve. Expand “I am delighted to have been appointed as a Trustee at Reedham Children’s Trust at such an exciting time for the charity. It is thinking innovatively about how it moves forward to deliver the best impact on the young people and the communities it serves. I aim to bring my 25 years of experience of working directly with young people and a wide range of clients with complex needs. I am looking forward to the challenges, and ultimately the rewards that this new post brings” Lucille has worked in the charitable sector for the past ten years and is currently working for The Henry Smith Charity in the Kindred Grants Team. Prior to that she set up and managed a mentoring project for young people leaving care. Lucille has spent 25 years working with varied client groups, delivering group work and 1:1 interventions – including working with adult offenders and survivors of domestic abuse. After gaining her Masters in Forensic Psychology at the age of 32 she worked for the West London Mental Health Trust in Felltham Young Offenders Institute. From there she joined the charitable sector and spent eight years training people to deliver targeted interventions to young people aged 12–18 years. This is Lucille’s first appointment as a Trustee and she feels it is important that some of the Trustees are able to bring direct experience of working with the client group that they serve. Lucille is married with two children and two cats.
Marjorie Perkins Marjorie has developed extensive experience in telecoms product development over 20 years, and is passionate about supporting young people. Expand Marjorie is a Telecoms Data Networking professional working on large scale network deployments and the introduction of new access connectivity products for clients in the Financial and Government sector. She is a committee member of the BT Ethnic Diversity Network supporting BT’s efforts to advance diversity and inclusion within the company and also she supports the next generation as a member of the Project team delivering the highly acclaimed Aleto Leadership Program. Marjorie is also a member of the Royal Society of Arts and a 2019 Wintrade Awards finalist.
Nadine Dyer Nadine is a Respect and Inclusion Manager, Financial Advisory and Chair of the Multicultural Network at Deloitte. Expand I am thrilled to have been appointed as a Trustee at Reedham Children’s Trust and look forward to contributing to making a positive difference to the next generation. Nadine takes a proactive stance and collaborates with operational business units, central functions, and external organisations to improve experiences and drive positive change when it comes to inclusion. Nadine has been listed as one of the ten Future Leaders as part of the Ethnicity Awards’ Top 100+ List 2020. She was also listed in the EMpower Ethnic Minority Role Model Future Leader list in 2018 and 2020. She also sits on the Firm’s Ethnicity Council and has been pivotal in driving the conversation around BLM and contributing the Firm’s Black Action Plan. Nadine is married with two children and enjoys gardening her spare time.
Paula Leon-James Paula is a senior lawyer in the corporate real estate sector and is currently in private practice. Expand I am delighted to have been appointed as a trustee at Reedham. I aim to use my experience and skills to help make a positive contribution to the local community, to give back and to help vulnerable or disadvantaged children come to the realisation that they can achieve more or become a leader in their own life. I also enjoy being part of a vibrant, creative and committed group of people who are all very passionate about the aims of the charity. For more than 30 years Paula has advised investors, asset managers, developers and occupiers with acquisitions and disposals of investments. She has worked with most asset classes from retail, office, residential, hotels and industrial sectors, acting for a number of major property companies and corporate occupiers on their portfolios. Paula is a member of the Black Solicitors Network City Group, as well as the Women Lawyers Division of the Law Society. She is also a member of Arete Network which actively promotes community service in disadvantaged areas, as well as the advancement of youth education and mentoring through the provision of training programmes. She was a volunteer at the Royal Courts of Justice Advice Bureau in London and she is a mentor to girls at a senior school in South London. Paula is married with three children and has lived in Kingswood for the past 25 years. She is passionate about outdoor pursuits such as running, hiking, walking with her two dogs and cycling.
